Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo- MUBS Ag. Deputy Principal
A proud milestone in the history of Makerere University Business School has been reached with the appointment of our distinguished alumna, Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo, as Acting Deputy Principal.
Her rise to this pivotal leadership role reflects not only personal excellence, but the enduring strength of the MUBS legacy in nurturing leaders who return to serve and elevate their alma mater. At the time of her appointment, Assoc. Prof. Mindra was serving as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership, academic rigor, and a deep commitment to student and staff development. Her tenure strengthened academic programming and reinforced a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
Her appointment followed an internally advertised, merit-based process overseen by the Appointments Board and subsequently noted by the MUBS Council 17
at its 67th Meeting held on October 15, 2025 reflecting the School’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and meritocracy.
In accordance with Clause 1.3.4 of the MUBS Human Resource Manual (2009, as amended 2024), the Principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi formally appointed Mindra to serve as Acting Deputy Principal, effective October 15, 2025. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mindra’s elevation carries special significance for the alumni community. It represents the inspiring journey of a graduate who has risen through dedication and service to help shape the future of the institution that launched her career.
Her appointment also marks an important step forward in advancing gender representation within senior leadership at one of Uganda’s most distinguished business education institutions. In accepting the role, Assoc. Prof. Mindra expressed both gratitude and purpose: “It is a great honor and a humbling moment to be entrusted with this role. I hope my appointment inspires more women to pursue leadership positions in academia.
I look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to continue advancing the mission and vision of MUBS.” This development reflects continuity, pride, and sustained progress for our alumni community.
