Jonathan comes to life as you celebrate the end of your academic journey at this stage. This graduation ceremony is by no means an end, but rather the beginning of your transition to the next level.
On behalf of the vast fraternity of MUBS Alumni, I take exception to extend hearty congratulations to all the MUBS graduates of 2026. Over the last several years, MUBS graduates have been emerging among the top performers in Makerere University, a feat that the2026 graduates have lived up to. We are Gallant graduates, Martin Luther King Jr. highlighted the combination of intelligence and character as the primary goal of education. The world you are stepping into today is one in which your character will be a key cornerstone for your success.
Character in this context speaks to your discipline, resilience and having a purpose. I encourage you to define your purpose and mission in life with clarity and go all out to achieve it. Live your life authentically and pursue your dreams with passion.
Life will throw challenges at you, jobs may be hard to come by; seed resources for private business and entrepreneurship may be a tall order; benefactors who supported you through education will wane; but in the end, it boils down to your courage to weather the storm. Many have done it, and so can you. A graduation ceremony is the culmination of the efforts of different stakeholders;the committed management and staff
proud of your achievements. A graduation ceremony of this kind is particularly important because it marks your formal transition into the fraternity of gallant MUBS Alumni to which we warmly welcome you. It is no doubt that Alumni who have had the opportunity to pass through and be molded by Makerere University Business School have continued to contribute immensely to national development through their various engagements. MUBS Alumni are spread out in almost every fabric of society – government, private sector, civil society and even in the religious sphere. Today you join this group of eminent citizens.
Your journey to this ceremony was certainly wrought with a number of challenges, trials and tribulations. That notwithstanding, your graduation is testament to your dedication and resilience. Your commitment and hard work have indeed paid off.
Congratulations. I wish to take a moment to empathize with those who were not able to pursue their dreams to completion at MUBS for various reasons. Save for a few, the vast majority of these would have wished to be in this graduation ceremony, but the vagaries of life could not permit. To these, I extend to you our sympathies.
I encourage you not to give up but to keep the fire and passion on, for there are other avenues, however treacherous, that can eventually lead you to success. of Makerere University Business School, your peers and most importantly your parents/guardians/benefactors. I extend profound appreciation to all the parents/ guardians who stood with and supported \our graduates to the last mile. Your dedication and sacrifice have today yielded fruits.
We appreciate you. Among the many plans you lay out to chart your journey going forward, I wish in a special way to invite and urge you to be active members of the MUBS Alumni Association. It is this Association that is the melting pot for networking and collaboration. Through the Alumni Association, colleagues support each other in various ways. Welcome to be part of this collective effort.
